MLB: Bryant plagues himself with shoulder injury
The Chicago Cubs have put Third Baseman Kris Bryant on the Disabled List. The star of the team is suffering from shoulder problems. The step is retroactive to Saturday.
The team officially speaks of an inflammation of the joint. Meanwhile, Bryant indicated that the problems were a result of increased time in the batting cage. Originally, however, he injured his shoulder during a slide about a month ago.
“It’s a little swollen, but I didn’t think so,” said Bryant on Tuesday before the Los Angeles Dodgers guest appearance (9-4 Cubs). “Maybe I tried to bite my teeth and then I came back too quickly. But it got better.”
Bryant himself does not expect any serious injuries and hopes to be up and running again next week.
Besides Bryant, the Cubs also put relief Justin Hancock (shoulder) on the Disabled List and sent relief Duane Underwood Jr. down to Triple-A Iowa. In return, right-handers Luke Farrell and Dillon Maples and Infielder David Bote from Iowa were appointed to the MLB team.
