NBA: Los Angeles trembles: Lakers grab LeBron

The Los Angeles Lakers have signed NBA superstar LeBron James of the Cleveland Cavaliers. This was announced by the 33-year-old’s management during the night from Sunday to Monday.

James is reported to earn about $154 million through a four-year contract. He had previously refused to draw his player option for the coming season with the Cavs after his team lost to the Golden State Warrios in the NBA finals.

Shortly before the announcement of his change, the superstar’s advisors had met with the 76s from Philadelphia. Now the James change has triggered a chain reaction: Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and Lance Stephenson also signed with the Lakers. JaVale McGee is also said to have chosen LA. According to ESPN, Kawhi Leonard is now to come.

Already in 2010 James had left the Cavaliers, at that time he was drawn to the Miami Heat. He returned in 2014 and secured the title two years later. The Cleveland team had often been accused of James being the only high performer. With the farewell to L.A., this is put to the test.

At the Lakers, James will meet German youth player Moritz Wagner, among others. He had only been drafted at the end of June, now he is likely to play in one of the teams that will be the big favourites in the new season.
