Tour de France 2018: Winners of the last years – Froome, Nibali, Wiggins
The Tour de France is considered the most important cycling event of the year. But who has won the trip through France in recent years? SPOX gives an overview of the 105th edition, which starts on July 7.
The real record winner of the Tour de France was Lance Armstrong with seven titles. However, due to doping, his successes were subsequently revoked in 2012. There is therefore no official winner in the corresponding editions.
The dominator of recent years was undoubtedly Chris Froome. The Briton won a total of four times, the last three years even in a row. Mountain stages, time trials, tactical know-how – Froome has everything a cyclist needs to be successful.
Nevertheless, Froome’s titles are not uncontroversial. During the Vuelta de Espana in September 2017, an increased concentration of the asthma drug salbutamol was observed, which can thus function as a doping drug. However: A few days before the start of the tour, the world association UCI acquitted the 33-year-old.

Germany has repeatedly produced successful cyclists who managed to win individual stages of the Tour de France. But only Jan Ullrich managed to finish the Tour of France in the yellow jersey. Born in Rostock, he won the tour sensationally in 1997.
