MLB: All-Star Game: First star cancels
Buster Posey will miss the MLB All-Star Game next Tuesday. The San Francisco Giants wrestler is currently suffering from a hip injury, manager Bruce Bochy explained on Monday.
The Giants have been thinking for a month about allowing Posey to pause over the All-Star break. The plan is for him to have an injection administered to treat inflammation at the weekend after the series against Oakland Athletics.
“We hope that we will get to the All-Star-Break with his hip situation and then he will get an injection, but after that he will need some time to recover,” Bochy told reporters. “He won’t be able to play the game.”
Posey had been elected to the National League All-Star team for the sixth time and was to serve as reserve behind Chicago Cubs starter Willson Contreras this year. Meanwhile, Yadier Molina has already been nominated by the St. Louis Cardinals as a replacement for Posey.
