NBA: Rockets lose Mbah a Moute – is Melo coming now?
The Houston Rockets suffered another loss at the Free Agency. Luc Mbah a Moute joined the L.A. Clippers, as ESPN reports.
The forward, who, like Trevor Ariza who moved to Phoenix last season, played an important role in the best team of the Regular Season, will sign for 1 year and 4.3 million dollars with the Clippers.
Mbah a Moute had played for the Clippers from 2015 to 2017 before joining the Rockets last season. For Houston, the 31-year-old averaged 7.5 points and 3 rebounds and shone defensively, but the Rockets could only have offered him the veteran minimum (2.4 million dollars).
But according to the report, the Rockets already have a replacement in mind. Carmelo Anthony is to be convinced of a change as soon as he has found a solution with the Thunder to finalize a termination of his contract.
OKC could save $107 million in expenses due to the luxury tax if they get Anthony’s $27.9 million salary from the books. A movement is expected in the next seven to ten days, ESPN reports.
Anthony, who scored 16.2 points and 5.8 rebounds last season, could then choose his new team as a free agent. Besides the Rockets, the Heat are also considered very interested in the ten-time All-Star.
