NBA: Wagner injured at victory – Young on fire

Moritz Wagner injured himself slightly in the next Los Angeles Lakers victory and had to leave the game against the New York Knicks prematurely. Isaac Bonga shows light and shadow again, while the knot bursts at Trae Young and the Guard of the Atlanta Hawks shoots out the lights.

Points: Gary Trent Jr. (20) – Jaron Blossomgame, Lonnie Walker (12 each)

Rebounds: Caleb Swanigan (9) – Amida Brimah (9)

Assists: Caleb Swanigan (5) – London Parrantes (5)

The result was ultimately tighter than the course of the game. The still undefeated Blazers were leading in the second half with up to 22 points, because Portland was especially hot from outside (11/21 trio). Gary Trent Jr. (20) sunk four triples, John Jenkins (13) and Jake Layman (15, 8 rebounds) each sunk three. Anfernee Simons (8, 4/13 FG), No.24-Pick, did not follow suit and had to fight hard with his litter. Sophomore John Collins got a break, but Caleb Swanigan (12, 9 rebounds, 5 assists) played well on the center position.

Spurs-Rookie Lonnie Walker (12) remained flawless from a distance (2/2), but otherwise had some problems. But that was the case for just about every other Spurs player who was spared the previously outstanding Derrick White and second-round pick Chimezie Metu.

Points: Bam Adebayo (24) – Grayson Allen, Diamond Stone (17 each)

Rebounds: Bam Adebayo (9) – Grayson Allen, Diamond Stone, Isaac Haas (7 each)

Assists: Derrick Walton Jr. (5) – Trey Lewis (6)

The Heat tried a lot with Bam Adebayo in this Summer League, also against the Jazz and the Center, who partly gave the Point Guard, delivered with 24 points (5/13 FG), 9 rebounds and 2 blocks his best game so far. Even more pleasing: 14/16 from the free throw are really strong for the Big. Next to the center, Guard Ike Nwamu with 18 points and 7 boards was the best player of the Heat.

No.21-Pick Grayson Allen did a good job for Utah and delivered 17 points and 7 rebounds like Center Diamond Stone. Only from a distance the ex-Dukie (1/5 threesome) didn’t want to work very well. Forward Georges Niang contributed another 12 points and 5 assists, while last year’s first-round pick Tony Bradley was suspended this time.

Points: Wendall Carter Jr., Antonio Blakeney (23 each) – Trae Young (24)

Rebounds: Wendall Carter Jr. (6) – Omari Spellman (10)

Assists: Chandler Hutchison (8) – Trae Young (5)

Did Trae Young break a knot? The No.5 pick of the Atlanta Hawks nailed 7 threesomes (13 attempts) into the basket against the Bulls and even sunk the very deep things. It seemed to inspire his colleagues. Guard Jaylen Adams also scored 23 points with five converted triples. No.30-Pick Omari Spellman (10 points, 10 rebounds) contributed a double double.

But even in Chicago you won’t be unhappy with the game, apart from the playful 19-point lead. No.7-Pick Wendall Carter Jr. once again made an excellent impression on Center with 23 points (9/13 FG), 6 rebounds and 2 blocks. No.22-Pick Chandler Hutchison appeared less as scorer (8, 3/7 FG), but more as passer (8 assists). Guard Antonio Blakeney, on the other hand, had the green light again and scored 23 points in 21 attempts to throw.
