NBA: Trade! Lin to the Hawks – Faried to Brooklyn
The Brooklyn Nets traded Jeremy Lin to the Atlanta Hawks. At the same time, the Nets are said to have set up a trade with the Denver Nuggets. Have him send Kenneth Faried and Darrell Arthur to New York.
This is reported by Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN. For Lin the Nets get the draft rights from 2016 Second Rounder Isaia Cordinier, while Atlanta gets a second round pick 2025 and a pick-swap 2023.
Dennis Schröder gets even more competition with Lin, another point guard. Lin has another contract for the coming season, for which he will collect 12.5 million dollars.
This allowed the Nets to make room to buy the Denver Nuggets’ expensive contracts. Denver sends Kenneth Farried and Darrell Arthur and a protected 2019 first-round pick and a 2020 second-round pick to Brooklyn. The Nets are sending Guard Isaiah Whitehead to the foot of the Rocky Mountains in return.
Denver saves around 21 million in salary and a total of 43 million if the luxury tax is taken into account. Faried and Arthur both have expiring contracts, The Manimal will collect $13.8 million for the coming season, Power Forward Arthur $7.5 million.
