NBA: SL: Hartenstein out – Jackson blocks everything away
For Isaiah Hartenstein and the Houston Rockets the Summer League is over. The German played solidly, but Collin Sexton and the Cavs were ultimately too strong. Furkan Korkmaz sunk a game winner for the Sixers, while Jaren Jackson Jr. caused a sensation with 7 blocks.
That was the second round of the knockout phase in the Summer League.
Points: Antonio Blakeney (24) – Henry Ellenson (21)
Rebounds: Wendall Carter Jr. (16) – Johnny Hamilton (10)
Assists: Chandler Hutchison, Ryan Arcidiacono (3 each) – Bruce Brown (4)
Pistons comeback win. The Bulls were leading in the first half with up to 18 points, but already in the second quarter the hand turned completely, the Pistons won this section with 27:11, led by strong Henry Ellenson, who scored 21 points and 5 rebounds. Detroit’s second round pick Bruce Brown (12, 4/15 FG) had problems with his throw but also took 8 rebounds.
At Chicago, Antonio Blakeney had the green light again. The Guard was the top scorer in his colours with 24 points, but also needed 22 casts. Similar throwing problems were experienced by No.7 pick Wendall Carter Jr. who finished the game with only 6 points (1/8 FG). But the center was a real beast under the boards and grabbed 16 rebounders, 6 of them offensively.
Points: Danuel House (30) – Colin Sexton, Scoochie Smith (17 each)
Rebounds: De’Anthony Melton (10) – Jamel Artis (9)
Assists: De’Anthony Melton (7) – Collin Sexton, Scoochie Smith (3 each)
The first defeat for the Rockets in this Summer League is synonymous with elimination and that despite another stubborn guard duo. Danuel House (30, 10/20 FG) played an outstanding game, but showed some weaknesses on the free-throw line during crunchtime (5/8 FT). The same was true for second round pick De’Anthony Melton (16, 10 rebounds, 7 assists, 4 steals), who could otherwise be found everywhere in the field.
Isaiah Hartenstein played 23 minutes and scored 7 points (2/5 FG), 9 rebounds and 2 blocks as well as 4 ball losses. In the final phase, the German had to be taken off the field because the Big had no chance against the hot Scoochie Smith (17, 6/12 FG) in the direct duel several times after the switch.
The Cavs’ Guard was the go-to-guy in the second half, scoring 15 points alone. Previously, No.8-Pick Collin Sexton showed promising performances, although not everything worked despite 17 points (5/17 FG, 5 Turnover).
