NFL: Sherman: “Seahawks have lost their way.”
Richard Sherman is not holding back when it comes to firing comments towards the Seattle Seahawks. The San Francisco 49ers cornerback now explained that his former team had “lost its way.
Sherman reflected to The MMQB on his seven-year stint in Seattle and spoke of an “unfortunate situation” in which the team found itself. In addition to saying goodbye to Sherman, Michael Bennett also recently left. Earl Thomas III also often expressed himself unhappily in the recent past.
“Mistakes and poor judgement have ruined what could have been special,” explained Sherman of Sports Illustrated. “There’s not much left now.”
Sherman then attacked the Seahawks’ front office directly. “Not paying Earl Thomas is incredible. He plays the game in the right way. Who will they pay instead? They have the two best linebackers, the quarterback and a great wide receiver in Doug[Baldwin]. And then they pay Duane Brown.”
In addition to Sherman and Bennett, tight end Jimmy Graham, defensive tackle Sheldon Richardson and cornerback Jeremy Lane have also recently left. “They’ve lost their way,” Sherman continues. “If you make too many mistakes in a short period of time, you dig yourself a deep hole. To get out of it, you have to make some quick and difficult decisions and plug the hole again and hope it holds.”
