Tour de France: Stage 12: Watch live today on TV, live stream and live ticker

With the 12th stage, the Tour de France enters the last round of mountain rides in the Alps. On this track there are two very long climbs, which will be a problem especially for sprinters. Compared to yesterday’s route, the journey between Bourg-Saint-Maurice and Alpe d’Huez is considerably longer. The cycling professionals have to cover 175.5 kilometres today. The stage crosses the 2,000-metre mark twice. The highest point is at 2,067 metres near Col de la Croix de Fer. The finish is also a remarkable 1,850 metres.

The supposedly exciting phases of the race only begin in the middle of the track. The first HC mountain classification takes place after 53.5 kilometres. Immediately afterwards follow a mountain and a sprint classification. In the further course even two further HC mountain classifications follow.

The race starts at 12.10 pm. At the finish the first drivers are expected between 5.34 pm and 6.16 pm.

Today’s stage at One and Eurosport will be on display right from the start. The coverage on One starts at 12 noon, Eurosport starts at 12.25 pm. As in the days before, ARD will take over the stage finale from 3.10 pm.

The Dutchman Greg van Avermaet lost the yellow jersey to Geraint Thomas from Britain. Peter Sagan did not let the green jersey be trashed on the first stages of the Alps. Already after the first mountain stage Julian Alaphillipe took over the mountain jersey thanks to his strong performance. The jersey of the best young rider will be worn by the Frenchman Pierre Roger Latour.

The second of three mountain stages yesterday was taken by the Briton Geraint Thomas. Previously, the Frenchman Julian Alaphillipe won thanks to a courageous escape attempt. In the previous stage John Degenkolb scored the first German stage victory of this year’s tour. Peter Sagan, Dylan Groenewegen and Fernando Gaviria had each celebrated two stage victories so far.

For the overall victory, however, it will not be enough for any of the drivers mentioned. Here, Chris Froome is still the star attraction. Quintana, Nibali and Co. can only be granted an outsider role.
