NBA: Trade! Celtics send Nader to OKC
The Boston Celtics traded Abdel Nader to the Oklahoma City Thunder. In exchange, the Celtics get Rodney Purvis. Both teams confirmed this with statements.
For the Celtics, this is a move to save money. Previously, there had been rumors that they would dismiss Nader and stretch him. Now they have even found a buyer for the Shooting Guard. Thus, the Celtics are pushing their payroll another 450,000 dollars and are now just above the luxury tax limit.
Nader played 48 games last season, scoring 3.0 points and 1.5 rebounds.
In return, the Celtics Guard will receive Rodney Purvis, whom Boston is expected to dismiss. He got a chance in Orlando last season and played in 16 games before being traded to Oklahoma City a few days ago.
The Thunder also get some money from the Celtics in this deal. Nader’s contract is only partially guaranteed for the coming season with 0.45 million dollars. If the Thunders don’t release the Guard, he’s entitled to just under $1.4 million.
