NBA: Trade! Grizzlies send Martin to Orlando
The Memphis Grizzlies traded Big Man Jarell Martin to the Orlando Magic. In return, Center Dakari Johnson and the draft rights of Guard Tyler Harvey will come to Tennessee. The two teams have already confirmed the trade.
Martin was once the 25th pick of the Grizzlies in the Draft 2015 and played 142 games (39 starts) for the Grizzlies. With the move, the Grizzlies save a little money and are now just under half a million below the luxury tax limit.
Martin scored 7.7 points and 4.4 rebounds in the past season and will now be the reserve behind Aaron Gordon and Jonathan Isaac in Orlando. Martin has a contract for the coming season and will receive 2.4 million dollars before he becomes Restricted Free Agent.
Dakari Johnson, on the other hand, has now been traded for the second time in one week. The center, which played 31 games for Oklahoma City Thunder last season, was traded by OKC to Orlando just a few days ago to be passed on directly to Memphis. Whether Grizzlies Johnson, the 48th pick from 2015, will be retained is still unclear.
Johnson will be like Martin next season RFA and will collect almost 1.4 million dollars for it.
