NFL: Media: Julio Jones goes on strike
The power struggle between Julio Jones and the Atlanta Falcons enters the next round. According to the media, the superstar has decided to suspend the training camp. So the holdout will happen.
As NFL insider Ian Rapoport reported on Tuesday, Julio Jones does not plan to attend the franchise training camp in Georgia. The Wide Receiver has no problem with “staying away the whole time”.
In view of the inflationary rise in salaries in his position, Jones also wants a more lucrative employment contract. Recently, however, The Atlantic reported that the team had “no plans” to “meet Jones’ desire for a salary increase before the start of the season”.
The wide receiver has only fulfilled two years of its five-year contract and will have an annual cap hit of $12.9 million in 2018. The receiver leader in this category is Mike Evans of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who earns $18.3 million this season.
