NFL: Holdout: Rams-DT Aaron Donald also on strike

As expected, Aaron Donald stayed away from the Los Angeles Rams Training Camp. The superstar of the franchise is eagerly awaiting an extension of the contract, while the franchise has recently tied only two other stars dearly.

The Training Camp of the Rams started today and Defensive Tackle Donald was not there. This was confirmed by the team. This confirms the expectations that Donald will go on strike for the second time in a row. The star will make less than $7 million in the 2018 season.

Donald is entering the last year of his rookie contract and should be awarded an absolute top contract among the defensive lines according to his achievements of the past years. In four seasons he never collected less than 8 bags. In 2017, there were 11 in 14 games.

According to managing director Les Snead, the Rams are working on an extension and “want to pay Aaron what he earns and make him a Ram in the long run”, but the situation is “complicated”. L.A. recently invested a lot of money in renewals and new player commitments.

On the defensive side, a lot of money was invested in Ndamukong Suh, Aqib Talib and Marcus Peters, while offensive stars such as Todd Gurley and Brandin Cook received completely new working papers at brilliant conditions.

Donald will find these actions of the Front Office hard to understand, but his holdout is problematic this year. If he does not appear with his team at least one month before the official start of the season, his Free Agency will be postponed by another year after the rule.
