MLB: Shoulder problems for Bryant again
Kris Bryant is out again. The Chicago Cubs have put the Third Baseman on the Disabled List with an inflammation in his shoulder.
The team announced the move, which is retroactive to July 24, on Thursday. Infielder David Bote was appointed to replace Bryant.
The same player was directly involved in the Cubs’ 7-6 win over Arizona Diamondbacks on Thursday, beating a 2-run Homun to equalize in the ninth inning – after that it was Anthony Rizzo whose walkoff homer ended the match.
Bote played on second base, while Ian Happ took over the Hot Corner for Bryant. Messenger started instead of Javier Baez, who was sitting outside with a knee injury.
Bryant originally injured his shoulder during a slide and thus dropped out from 22 June to 11 July.
