MLB: MVP out for the first time in eight years
Jose Altuve must be on the Disabled List. The Second Baseman of the Houston Astros has been suffering from knee problems for a few days and is now supposed to rest.
Already on Wednesday, the current MVP of the American League had left the game prematurely with pain in his right knee. On Friday and Saturday Altuve was not in the lineup against the Texas Rangers.
“The doctor examined my knee and thought it was better that I go on the Disabled List,” Altuve told reporters.
The move is retroactive to Thursday and marks the first time Altuve has landed on the DL in his eight-year MLB career. “It’s the first time in my career, so I’m not happy about it,” said Altuve.
Altuve leads the Astros with a.329 shot average and currently comes out on nine home runs and 46 RBI in 104 games.
