NFL: Injuries: Shock for the Carolina Panthers / Eifert back
The Carolina Panthers suffered a severe setback. Free agency commitment Ross Cockrell broke his leg during the training camp. At the Cincinnati Bengals, Tyler Eifert was removed from the PUP list.
Cockrell, who signed a two-year contract with the Panthers during the off-season, was taken off the field during Monday’s training. The team later announced that the cornerback had broken his leg.
The injury occurred in a collision with Torrey Smith in the end zone. Coach Ron Rivera finished the training immediately after the injury. Cockrell had good prospects for a starting spot at the Panthers.
Good news from the Bengal camp. Tight End Tyler Eifert successfully completed the physical tests and was removed from the PUP list. He missed most of the 2017 season due to back problems.
The all-clear also came from the Detroit Lions camp. Running Back LeGarette Blount stopped the training on Sunday early, but returned to Pads on Monday.
Cornerback Gareon Conley will miss the next weeks of the Oakland Raiders training camp. Conley complained about problems in the hip area and missed several units of Jon Gruden’s team.
