NBA: Media: Rockets sign Caboclo, sacked Hunter
The Houston Rockets are still working on their squad for the coming season. On Friday, the front office around General Manager Daryl Morey made two changes.
The Rockets reached an agreement with Forward Bruno Caboclo on a so-called “Exhibit 10 Contract”, as Chris Haynes (ESPN) reports: This is an unguaranteed minimum contract that guarantees the team flexibility.
If Caboclo is not convincing in Training Camp, Houston can dismiss him and would only have to pay a bonus of up to $50,000 if Caboclo reports to the G-League team of the Rockets (Rio Grande Valley Vipers) within a certain period of time. Houston also has the opportunity to turn the contract for the start of the Regular Season into a two-way contract.
Meanwhile, the franchise has released such a two-way player on Friday, R.J. Hunter is now again a free agent, as Shams Charania (Yahoo! Sports) reports, and could be about to move to Europe.
Hunter was promoted to 28th position by the Celtics in 2015, but subsequently was unable to prevail in either the Celtics, Bulls or Rockets. The same applies to Caboclo, who was pushed to position 20 by the Raptors in 2014. Last season, the Canadians handed the Brazilian over to Sacramento, where his contract was not extended after the season.
