MLB: After comeback: Boston star injured again
The Boston Red Sox have put Chris Sale back on the Disabled List after only one start. The pitcher is again plagued by shoulder problems.
Only last Sunday Sale was activated by the DL and shone with 12 strikeouts in only five innings against the Baltimore Orioles. By the way, he is now in series at 28 innings without giving up a run.
Now, however, the left-hander was again placed on the DL, officially with a mild inflammation in the shoulder. This was announced by the team on Saturday.
“It’s definitely less bad than last time,” Sale told reporters on Saturday. “The shoulder has not recovered. She didn’t recover the way we would have wanted her to. But considering where we are in the table, it was probably the right decision that I should rest a bit and not make it worse.”
Boston have a 10 1/2 lead in the American League East and are clearly heading for the playoffs. To fill the squad at Sale, however, Reliever Brandon Workman was ordered out of the farm system.
