MLB: Dizziness: Chicago manager in hospital
Rick Renteria had to be taken to hospital on Monday with dizziness. The manager of the Chicago White Sox stayed in the clinic overnight while his team won in his absence.
According to a White Sox spokesman after the 8-5 win over the Minnesota Twins, Renteria will be further investigated at Hennepin County Medical Center. Further information is not yet known.
In Renteria’s place Bench Coach Joe McEwing took over the role of the manager.
“We bit our teeth without our manager,” said starter Lucas Giolito. “Joe did a great job in this difficult situation. The team got together and we won.”
“Our thoughts and prayers were with him all night,” McEwing told reporters. “We always think of him. He is such a great leader and a great person.”
