MLB: Pittsburgh hopefuls injured on leg

Starting pitcher Chris Archer had to leave the Pittsburgh Pirates 1-0 bankruptcy against Atlanta Braves on Monday. Apparently, he hurt his leg hitting him.

Archer left the PNC Park game after four innings in pain on his left leg. These were probably triggered by a momentum in the third inning. He went short to the ground trying to stop a swing. The at-bat resulted in a strikeout.

Before the fourth inning, manager Clint Hurdle and a physiotherapist came to the mound after Archer had completed his warm-up pitches, but the right-hander remained in the game.

Altogether Archer gave a run on five hits until his substitution. He also collected three strikeouts and a walk.

Finally, left-handed Steven Brault, who was appointed to the MLB squad by Triple-A Indianapolis only before the match, took over for the right-handed player.
