MLB: New York loses next star

The New York Yankees have put Aroldis Chapman on the Disabled List. The closer has been suffering for some time from tendonitis in the left knee, in which the pain had recently increased.

Chapman had to be replaced after only six pitches in the twelfth inning in the Miami Marlins game on Tuesday and was thoroughly investigated on Wednesday.

As far as the schedule for his return was concerned, Chapman had not yet decided on Wednesday. However, he hopes to use the prescribed ten days to spare his knee. “Of course, we hope it’ll only be ten days. I’ll take the time to recover and get back to 100% fitness.”

Another doctor’s appointment is scheduled for Friday in New York. Only then do the Yankees expect clarity on how Chapman will proceed. “We have to keep working on it. He’s gonna keep getting treatment, and then we’ll see how the knee reacts. He needs to rest – really rest – and then we see what it looks like after a long break,” said manager Aaron Boone.

Chapman’s squad start with Rookie Chance Adams, who got his second callup this season. Who ultimately acts as a closer, on the other hand, is completely open. David Robertson, Zach Britton and Dellin Betances are three players with close experience.
