NBA: Carter: Too old? I want to disprove
Vince Carter enters his 21st season as a professional at the age of 41. The oldie, who will now play for the Atlanta Hawks, could even imagine spending another year on it.
“I know how the game works. The media and fans can be cruel at times,” Carter told his introductory session about questions about his advanced age. “People say I’m too old to play anymore. My goal is to refute that. I’m investing a lot of time and effort.”
Carter signed a new contract with the Atlanta Hawks this summer after the veteran played with the Sacramento Kings last year. Atlanta’s proximity to his family in Orlando spoke for itself, and Turner Sports is based in the metropolis of Georgia. Carter had most recently worked for TNT in the Summer League as an expert, a job Carter wants to continue in the future.
However, his focus is fully on the Hawks, where youngsters like Trae Young, Taurean Prince or John Collins are to lead. “What the organization is planning is very positive. The potential and some parts are already there. I will help to lay the foundation and show them the way.”
But he wouldn’t tell me how much longer Carter would like to play. “I know the end is coming, but when it comes, I want to be well prepared.”
