MLB: Oakland fears for star players
Bad news for the Oakland Athletics: Pitching Ace Sean Manaea has been placed on the Disabled List. The left-handed person is hampered by an injury to the shoulder.
Officially, the problem is impingement syndrome in the shoulder. How long it will fail is still unclear.
Manaea is 12-9 with a 3.59 ERA over 27 starts this season and has so far made 108 strikeouts (32 walks) over 160 2/3 innings. His season highlight was a no-hitter against the Boston Red Sox in April.
To fill up the 25-player squad, the A’s right-handers brought back Emilio Pagan from Triple-A Nashville. Pagan is 3-0 with a 3.71 ERA over 53 1/3 innings for Oakland this season.
The Oakland A’s are currently second in the American League West, 1 1/2 games behind the Houston Astros. In the AL Wildcard, they lead five games ahead of the Seattle Mariners, putting them on a play-off course.
