MLB: Philly strengthens just before close of goal

The Philadelphia Phillies have secured the services of Outfielder Jose Bautista. Philly agreed to a trade with the New York Mets after requesting the veteran by waiver claim.

In return, a player who is not yet known or cash is transferred to Flushing. Bautista had only joined the Mets during the season and only earned the league minimum.

With Phillies’ highly talented young outfield, Bautista is unlikely to be considered a regular, but rather a late option from the bank. Bautista only beats .196 this season, but has a.339 on-basecentage and eleven home runs in 342 plate appliances.

Bautista hadn’t found a new team with the Toronto Blue Jays in winter before joining the Atlanta Braves for a few weeks. After he was released there, he finally went to the Mets, where he at least showed approaches of former productivity (98 OPS+).

Since Bautista was signed before the end of August, he would be eligible to play for the Philadelphia Phillies during the post season. And Bautista made his debut in the 4-5 crash against the Washington Nationals. But as pinch hitter he got a strikeout.
