NBA: Kanter: “You don’t leave New York for Milwaukee”
Enes Kanter of the New York Knicks caused a little stir in the summer when he tweeted a deer, suggesting that he might go to the Milwaukee Bucks. In the end, however, the Turk took his player option with the Knicks. Kanter now explained what this was all about.
“You have to play a little with the media,” Kanter told Royce Young of ESPN. “Of course, I knew I wouldn’t go to Milwaukee. It’s the Milwaukee Bucks. You don’t leave New York to go to Milwaukee unless you get really good money for it.”
But since Kanter can also earn a lot of money in New York in the coming season, the Big remained in the Big Apple. By drawing his player option, the Turk earns $18.9 million in 2018/19 before becoming an unrestricted free agent in the summer of 2019.
“I sat in an over and I was bored,” Kanter also explained once again why he had even posted the stag. “Five minutes later, I deliberately deleted it. Everybody talked about it, it became a viral. That was crazy.”
Kanter was one of the positive surprises at the New York Knicks last season. The Turk played a double double (14.1 points, 11.0 rebounds) on average and pocketed 59.2 percent of his rolls.
