MLB: Wright returns to Mets after rehab

David Wright has returned to the New York Mets. The Third Baseman has finished his rehab assignment. However, it is not expected to be activated promptly by the Disabled List.

Wright had spent two and a half weeks in the Minor Leagues, mostly at Single-A St. Lucie and most recently at Triple-A Las Vegas, but the Minor Leagues seasons are coming to an end this weekend, so the Mets ordered him to join the MLB team in San Francisco. There they will play a three-game series against the Giants at the weekend.

However, as MLB.com reports, it is not expected that Wright will quickly return to the MLB squad. Rather, the former all-star should see this as an opportunity to train in front of the coaching staff and thus recommend himself.

“I don’t think Wright will be activated on this away trip,” a member of the MLB.com coaching staff is quoted.

Wright himself, however, is still planning a comeback after numerous injuries this year: “My goal this year is to play in the Big Leagues,” Wright said in the Las Vegas Review Journal on Monday.

Wright last played in the MLB in 2016 and since then has undergone several operations following injuries that had repeatedly set him back.
