MLB: Milwaukee upgrades again

The Milwaukee Brewers have been reassigned. Hours before the August deadline they picked up Curtis Granderson from the Toronto Blue Jays and Gio Gonzalez from the Washington Nationals via Trades.

On Friday the Brewers hit the transfer market twice. First it was the pitching rotation’s turn. Starter Gio Gonzalez comes out of the American main stand along with $250,000 in bonus pool money for the international amateur market. In return, Washington will receive two Minor League players: First Baseman KJ Harrison and shortstop Gilbert Lara.

Meanwhile Outfield prospect Demi Orimoloye goes to Canada for Outfielder Curtis Granderson. Toronto will also take over part of Granderson’s retiring salary.

Both players will become free agents at the end of the season and are expected to appear in the playoffs for the brew crew as they were signed in August. The deadline for a player to qualify for the playoffs is August 31st at 23:59 East Coast Time. By then, a player must be in the organization for which he is to play in the postseason.
