MLB: Japan star makes history at comeback

Shohei Ohtani pitched in MLB for the first time since his elbow injury. At 2-4 of his Los Angeles Angels with the Houston Astros, he did not last long, but drew level with a legend.

In his first start since June 6th, Ohtani only managed 2 1/3 innings (2h) and gave up a 2-run-homerun against George Springer in the third inning. After 49 pitches, which was about his limit, the Japanese player was finally replaced.

Through this performance he equaled Babe Ruth several times. He and Ruth are the only players who have made ten starts as pitcher in a season and have beaten at least ten home runs. They are also the only two to pitch 50 innings and hit 15 home runs.

Towards the end of his outing, Ohtani complained of back problems and pain on one finger due to an unsuccessful attempt to catch a comebacker. The latter is said to have led to reduced pitch speed in the third inning, which favored the home run.
