NBA: All: “Do not believe in kudos from ex-Celtics”
Ray Allen will be inducted into the Hall of Fame on Friday evening. As one of the best marksmen of all time, Allen won a title in 2008 with the Boston Celtics, among others. However, Allen does not believe that his former colleagues will congratulate him.
“No, I don’t expect that,” Allen told Shams Charania (The Athletic) when asked if he would expect congratulations from Kevin Garnett or Rajon Rondo.
The sting of parts of the former Celtics still seems to be deep after Allen left the Big Three in 2012 and went to his big rival, the Miami Heat around LeBron James. Only Paul Pierce has smoothed the waves. “I spoke to Paul a year ago and we resolved our differences,” Allen continued.
“There’s been so much talk about my decision to go to Miami and of course they were angry about it, but what we had in 2008 in the title year nobody can take away from us.”
Allen was supported by his former coach at the Celtics, Doc Rivers. “He should be celebrated, even in Boston,” the current Clippers coach told ESPN: “He is also responsible for this banner. I wish I could get everyone back together. They should all be friends, since we were such a community. It hurts me to see what it’s like right now.”
