NFL: Bills: QB exchange! Josh Allen takes over
It didn’t even take an entire game: The Buffalo Bills apparently carry out the quarterback exchange – rookie Josh Allen is to start in week 2 and replace Nathan Peterman.
This is reported by several media, including NFL network insider Ian Rapoport and ESPN insider Adam Schefter. Allen had already taken over for Peterman in the course of the second half during the opening bankruptcy against the Baltimore Ravens, now Buffalo is apparently permanently carrying out the quarterback exchange.
Peterman seemed completely lost against Baltimore, the Bills did not manage 50 total open yards and no first down in the first half. The Bills lost the game 3:47.
At the same time it’s not an easy decision for Buffalo: Allen showed in the preseason that he will still need time – when he played against a starting defense for a long time in week 3, he took five sacks, didn’t cross the middle line and afterwards admitted that the game was still very fast.
Now he has to play two ungrateful opponents behind the shaky line; first the Los Angeles Chargers wait, then he goes to Minnesota against the Vikings. The Bills run the risk of Allen taking a lot of hits and sacks early in his career.
