NBA: Sixers and Lakers with an interest in Crawford
Jamal Crawford continues to be on a small list of veterans who have not yet joined a new team. But according to media reports, the 38-year-old will be courted by the Philadelphia 76ers and Los Angeles Lakers, among others.
After the Minnesota Timberwolves refused an extension with the triple Sixth Man of the Year, Crawford has been a free agent since July. According to Marc J. Spears of ESPN, however, the microwave is still far from joining a team.
“He said to me,’Nothing yet,'” Spears said on the TV show The Jump. “But there was interest from the Lakers and there was interest from the Sixers.” Allegedly the Golden State Warriors were also interested, but Spears does not expect Crawford to sign for the current champion.
Both the Sixers and the Lakers could use some more backup for the bank. Even in his old age Crawford is still a potent scorer, last season he scored 10.3 points per game.
