NBA: “One last dance”: Wade remains a season!
Dwyane Wade has taken his time, on Sunday the three-time champion announced his decision: Wade’s gonna play another season at the Miami Heat.
Wade announced his decision with a video he had made himself during the day. “I’ve always done things my way,” Wade said in it. “Whether that was good or bad, I got to that point because I always did what I felt was right for me and my family. And what feels right now… I would like to ask you to give me one last dance. For one last season.”
Wade had already stressed several times over the summer that he would either stop or play another season for Miami. Now he is expected to sign with Miami later this week at the veterans’ minimum ($2.4 million). During the last season he was traded back to the team where his career started in 2003 after intermezzos in Chicago and Cleveland.
“That’s all. I gave this game everything I have and I’m happy about it,” Wade said. “And I will give everything I have left for one last season.”
The Heat get their biggest franchise icon back. Wade, 36, is a Miami franchise record holder in points, assists, steals and completed games. Just like Udonis Haslem, who also recently extended for a season in Miami, he participated in all three championships of the franchise, in 2006 as final MVP.
“Let’s enjoy it,” Wade said in his video. “Let’s have another last season of fun together. Let’s give this young team a boost and write our own story for the end of this career. Together.”
