NBA: Media: Suns want to trade for Beverley

After Brandon Knight’s trade with the Houston Rockets, the Phoenix Suns lack a point guard. According to Shams Charania (The Athletic) they keep an eye on Patrick Beverley.

Beverley, 30, is still under contract with the Los Angeles Clippers for the coming season ($5 million), but they seem to want to rejuvenate and have also drawn a talented point guard in the draft with Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. So far, however, there seems to be a lack of the right offer.

According to Charania, the Suns only want to give second round picks, but the Clippers insist on a first round pick. As well as the other teams, who know that Phoenix urgently needs a point guard – also the Pacers (because of Cory Joseph) and the Nets (because of Spencer Dinwiddie) must have been knocked on the door.

Beverley, however, would be Phoenix’ first choice, as Charania reports. The defensive Guard is regarded as a good fit alongside franchise player Devin Booker and as someone whose mentality could be good for the culture of the young team.

Last season Beverley could only play 11 games for the Clippers due to injury, in which he scored 12.2 points, 4.1 rebounds and 2.9 assists.
