NFL: Comeback comes too late! Chicago Bears make a false start for the Seattle Seahawks perfect

The Chicago Bears have beaten the Seattle Seahawks in half-time one with another outstanding defensive performance and head coach Matt Nagy clinched the first victory of his career. Russell Wilson had another hard time against the pass rush and around Khalil Mack and made two turnovers.

As in the opening match against the Green Bay Packers, the Bears-Defense dominated their opponents and especially the offensive line at the beginning of the game. Wilson (22/36, 226 yards, 2 TD, 1 INT), who could not find a quick pass to his receivers and also found hardly any possibilities to avoid the pass rush, was sacked five times in the first half alone.

Compared to Mitch Trubisky (25/34, 200 yards, 2 TD, 2 INT) a long scoring drive in the first quarter ended with a short shovel pass to Trey Burton (4 REC, 20 yards, 1 TD) for the touchdown, but again showed a shaky performance overall. Last year’s number two pick did not find his receiving corps around Allen Robinson (10 REC, 83 yards) deep and was intercepted twice by Seahawks cornerback Shaquill Griffin.

Despite the turnovers, the first Seahawks points were delayed until just before halftime. After an up-tempo drive by the guests, during which Wilson himself had to scramble several times, it took the strong leg of Sebastian Janikowski, who scored the field goal of 56 yards with only two seconds left on the clock. Wilson had just been able to spike the ball before.

Only in the last quarter the Seahawks could finally march down the field: Tyler Lockett (5 REC, 60 yards, 1 TD) started Wilson’s touchdown pass with a strong catch for 10-17, but the Seattle comeback failed to take place. Prince Amukamara, who had really anticipated Rashaad Penny’s out-route, restored his team’s 14-point lead with a Pick Six.

Shortly thereafter, Danny Trevethan, who was able to score two sacks as a speed camera, also forced a fumble from Wilson. The touchdown catch of Tight End Will Dissly (3 REC, 42 yards, 1 TD) in the last seconds of the game was then no longer considered result cosmetics.

“We’re a young team. We’ll find out what we need to do better,” Wilson said after the game. Star-Pass-Rusher Mack was satisfied on Chicago’s side. “It’s a great feeling. We were very strong today.”

The Bears, who will face Tarik Cohen and Akiem Hicks after the game, may be victorious next week against the Arizona Cardinals. The seahawks welcome the Dallas cowboys.
