MLB: Special milestone for Tampa-Star

Blake Snell was the first pitcher in two years to clinch 20 wins in a season. The left-handed player pitched five innings and only made one hit for the Tampa Bay Rays 4-0 over the Texas Rangers.

Snell (20-5) set the franchise record for David Price, who also won 20 games in 2012 and also won the Cy Young Award in the end.

For Snell, this is a complete turnaround, after he was downgraded to Triple-A Durham with a 6-14 balance last year. Since returning to the MLB squad last August, he is now 25-6.

“Knowing what it’s like to fight helps me a lot,” Snell said, admitting, “I always have that in mind.”

Snell also achieved 200 strikeouts in the season and currently has a 1.97 ERA, with which he leads the American League.

Last year no one won more than 18 games. In 2016, Rick Porcello won 22 games in the American League, while Max Scherzer and J.A. Happ won 20 games in the NL.
