NBA: Media: Elton Brand new Sixers-GM
The Philadelphia 76ers have apparently found a successor for General Manager Bryan Colangelo, who resigned in June. Accordingly, Elton Brand will be in charge of the franchise in future.
As Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports, Brand left a strong impression on the team owners and Head Coach Brett Brown during the application process. Now the current Vice President of Basketball Operations is to be promoted to the new GM.
During the lengthy search for a Colangelo successor, Brown temporarily assumed the role of General Manager of the team. In addition to Brand, former Cavs GM David Griffin, Rockets Vice President Gersson Rosas and Warriors Assistant GM Larry Harris were allegedly interviewed.
After the former Power Forward ended his career in 2016, Brand spent two years in the Sixers organization. He initially served as GM of the Sixers G-League team before being promoted to Vice President. Now another promotion seems to follow.
Elton Brand played 17 years in the NBA, of which he spent five seasons in the Sixers’ jersey. Brand averaged 15.9 points and 8.5 rebounds in his career.
