NBA: Magic: “Ball Ready for Breakout Year”
After Lonzo Ball had to undergo knee surgery due to a meniscus tear, the point guard of the Los Angeles Lakers is completely fit again and ready for training camp. Magic Johnson has high expectations of the 20-year-old
At a press conference, Lakers GM Rob Pelinka reported that the doctors released the ball 100 percent. At the start of the training camp next week, Ball will be able to participate in almost all units.
For the time being, however, Ball will be missing in the 5-on-5-Contact-Drills, in which he should only get back into step by step. The Lakers want to give their point guard the time he needs and not put pressure on him, Pelinka said.
Lakers President Magic Johnson reaffirmed his high expectations for the No.2 pick of the 2017 draft: “He is ready for a breakout year,” said the 59-year-old. “He’ll build on what he showed last season.”
During the offseason, Ball built up more muscle mass and worked on his litter, among other things. After the Point Guard hit only 36 percent from the field and 30.5 percent from downtown in the 2017/18 season, Ball appropriated a slightly different throwing movement. “I think it was his own decision,” Magic explained. “And, man, she looks great.”
