NHL: Season 2018/19: Schedules, Livestream, Playoffs, Germans, Infos

On the night of 4 October, the 102nd season of the NHL begins in the USA! 31 teams want to bring the Stanley Cup to their city. SPOX gives you an overview of the game schedule, the playoffs, all German players and tells you where you can follow the entire NHL season in the livestream.

The Toronto Maple Leafs and the Montreal Canadiens will open the new season on 3 October, in Germany at 1 a.m. in the night on the 4th. The reigning Stanley Cup winner from Washington will also be involved in the three other games of the first day, with the Capitals having to deal with the Bruins.

The 102nd season of the National Hockey League ends on 6 April 2019.

The pay-TV station Sport1 US will also broadcast up to four live matches per week and a total of 150 NHL games up to and including the 2019/20 season. The sports channel will also show selected games on free TV.

31 teams will play in the NHL, 24 of them from the USA, seven from Canada. The teams are divided into two Conferences: Eastern Conference (16 teams) and Western Conference (15 teams). These conferences each include two divisions: Atlantic and Metropolitan in the Eastern Conference, Central and Pacific in the Western Conference.

The teams play in the playoffs within a conference for the privilege to play in the final for the Stanley Cup.

The Vegas Golden Knights, who joined the league only last season, marched sensationally into the final in their first season, but then had to give in to the Washington Capitals in the battle for the Stanley Cup, who won the series 4-1. For the Capitals it was the first final triumph in the history of the club.

The Regular Season will end on April 6th. A few days later the playoffs start, but a detailed schedule for the post season has not yet been fixed. At the end of May or beginning of June the final series of the Stanley Cup begins.

Within the NHL Global Series, three Regular Season games will take place on European soil. The Edmonton Oilers and the New Jersey Devils will meet in Gothenburg on October 6, and the Florida Panthers and the Winnipeg Jets will play two duels in Helsinki on November 1 and 2.
