NBA: Durant on Free Agency: “Just be honest.”

In the summer of 2019, Kevin Durant could step out of his current contract with the Golden State Warriors and become a Free Agent. In an interview with ESPN, Durant has now commented on the Free Agency that may be coming.

“Just be honest,” says Durant about his motto for the off-season. When he moved to Golden State in 2016, his move caused a lot of criticism in many parts of the NBA world.

“I honestly communicated my decision to the outside world when I was asked. You shouldn’t be ashamed of changing teams, it’s not the end of the world,” says Durant in retrospect. “I didn’t break the law.”

“So much attention was paid to my change, I thought I had done something wrong,” Durant continued. “But deep down in my heart, I knew this was the perfect decision for me.”

Despite his possible Free Agency in the coming summer, Durant is completely focused on the 2018/19 season to win the third title in a row with the Warriors. He knew, however, that questions and speculations on this subject would arise sooner or later.

“I’ve seen this before,” says Durant. “I’ll just try to be as honest as I can.” The two-time final MVP has signed a two-year off-season contract (second year player option) that will earn him $30 million next season.
