MLB: Own plant rejects 200 million contract

Kris bryant apparently rejected a massive contract extension with the chicago cubs. According to a media report, the team had offered the third baseman about 200 million dollars.

As Dave Kaplan of ESPN reports, the Cubs are supposed to have made the offer this year. However, Bryant and super agent Scott Boras refused and preferred to opt for one-year contracts until Bryant’s Free Agency after the 2021 season.

Since Bryant is a super two player, he will go through the salary arbitration process four times. This year he already earned $10.85 million in his first year of arbitration, which is a new record.

Bryant is considered one of the best young players in the league, but was set back in 2018 by various injuries and only played 103 games. He only got a .834 OPS with three home runs. Figures that are well below his career average.

Since his MLB debut in 2015, Bryant has won the Rookie of the Year Award, a National League MVP, and was twice named to the All-Star team. In addition, he was an important part of the team that will make 2016 the World Series.
