MLB: Record men lead Championship Series

The MLB announced the Umpire appointments for the League Championship Series on Thursday. Accordingly, Gerry Davis will act as crew chiefs in the NLCS and Joe West in the ALCS.

Davis holds the record for the most playoff games of an Umpires with 144, while West with 5194 bets in the Regular Season takes second place behind Bill Klem (5375) on the All-Time List.

For the start of the NLCS between the Brewers and Dodgers on Friday, Scott Barry will act as Home Plate Umpire in Milwaukee. Alan Porter manning the first base, Davis the second, Hunter Wendelstedt the third. In addition, Jim Wolf is monitoring Left and Brian Gorman Right Field.

Greg Gibson will act as Replay Umpire in New York for the first two games and then travel to Los Angeles for game 3 of the series. Barry, in turn, goes to the replay center. Gibson would be meanwhile Home Plate Umpire for a possible game 7.

In the ALCS James Hoye is behind the record in Boston on Saturday. Vic Carapazza occupies the first base, West the second and Mark Carlson the third. Chris Guccione is in left field and Mark Wegner is in right field. Bill Miller is the replay Umpire for the first two games, then travels to Houston for game 3 and would be home plate Umpire in game 7. Hoye in turn is responsible from game 3 in New York for replaying the screens.
