NBA: 39 million! Heat extend with Winslow
The Miami Heat have agreed on a premature contract extension with Justise Winslow shortly before the start of the season. This reports Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.
Winslow is still playing the coming season on his rookie contract, next summer he would have become Restricted Free Agent. Instead, he now earns $39 million over three years. In the third year, there is a team option for Miami.
The deadline for an early renewal would have been next Monday, now Winslow’s agency Roc Nation has agreed on Friday with the franchise. Winslow already commented on the new deal on Friday after the heat training.
“I’m just happy,” said the 22-year-old. “I’m dedicated to this team, this town. It’s nice that we agreed before the season so I can just play basketball.”
Winslow scored 7.8 points and an average of 5.4 rebounds in his third NBA season in 68 games.
