MLB: Atlanta extends contract of success manager

The Atlanta Braves have extended the contract of manager Brian Snitker by two years. The contract therefore runs until 2020 with a club option until 2021.

Snitker took over the Braves in May 2016, initially on an interim basis following the dismissal of Fredi Gonzalez. 2019 will be his third full season as manager of the team and his 43rd as a member of the franchise.

Snitker led the Braves into the playoffs for the first time since 2013 and now has a total balance of 221-227.

After a 72-90 season in 2017, the Braves won the 2018 National League East with a 90-72 record. “He has done a remarkable job,” said First Baseman Freddie Freeman about his manager: “It’s really hard to act 25 to 35 personalities, and he’s the best in the business.”

The Braves lost to the Los Angeles Dodgers in the NLDS.
