Basketball: BCL: Rice leads Bamberg to win against Dijon

Brose Bamberg won his second group game in the Basketball Champions League against JDA Dijon with 73:64 (28:30). Tyrese Rice advanced to match winner in the second half. All games of the BCL with German participation are live on DAZN.

After a desolate first quarter, the Bambergers were threatened with their second defeat in the second game. It took 6:33 minutes for Brose to appear on the scoreboard for the first time. Of a total of 16 litters, only two fell through the cage.

With a bit of luck, the Bamberg team were only nine points behind after a wild first quarter. Elias Harris took over from the bank, pulled many fouls and led his team to the half almost equal.

Bamberg’s top scorer this season, Stevan Jelovac and Augustine Rubit, like the entire Starting Five, continued to hit too little. On Dijon’s side, too, it was the bank that scored points.

Point Guard Rice fought their way into the game at the beginning of the third quarter with some good defensive plays and assists. Suddenly the three-way man also fell for him. Rice scored 18 of his 20 points in the second half. The French, who were particularly disappointed by the three-way line, could no longer keep up with the Bamberger’s good offensive in the last quarter.

In the second BCL game with German participation, the MHP giants lost Ludwigsburg against Sidigas Avellino with 77:96 (31:47).

Headcoach John Patrick’s team only scored 42.4 percent from the field and allowed too many points after the turnover. For Ludwigsburg it is the second defeat in Group A. The next matchday is against Le Mans.
