MLB: After OP: BY-Star not back until August?

Didi Gregorius has undergone the planned Tommy John Surgery at his right elbow. How long the shortstop of the New York Yankees will last is still unclear.

The Yankees announced on Wednesday that the operation had gone “as expected”. Dr. David Altchek performed the procedure at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York.

General Manager Brian Cashman, on the other hand, was reluctant to make an accurate forecast about the 28-year-old’s return. In a radio interview with theDidi G “Michael Kay Show” on 98.7 ESPN New York, he merely said that a return could be expected sometime between June and August.

Cashman also said, however, that Gleyber Torres was the top alternative on the shortstop position if you decide to replace Gregorius internally.

Gregorius beat 27 home runs in 2018, breaking his own franchise record for home runs of a short stop in one season. In total, he beat .268 with 86 RBI.
