NHL: Thomas Greiss again outstanding
Ice hockey national goalkeeper Thomas Greiss has helped his New York Islanders to their fifth consecutive victory in the NHL with another brilliant performance. The 32-year-old scored his ninth goal in a 3-0 win over the New Jersey Devils for the first time this season. Greiss fought off 35 shots.
It was only on Thursday evening (local time) that Greiss had secured the Islanders’ 3-2 victory in the penalty shoot-out against the Pittsburgh Penguins and then received extra praise from his coach Barry Trotz.
Leon Draisaitl and Tobias Rieder from the Edmonton Oilers were also able to celebrate a victory. The team from Canada won the Detroit Red Wings with 4:3. Draisaitl (17:36 minutes) and Rieder (16:27) got a lot of time, but they did not score any goals.
Dominik Kahun and the Chicago Blackhawks, on the other hand, suffered their fifth consecutive defeat. The Blackhawks lost to the Calgary Flames 3-5, with Kahun playing 12-17 minutes.
