NFL: Saints apparently commit Dez Bryant
After Dez Bryant was invited to a workout at the New Orleans Saints on Tuesday, the franchise was now able to agree on a one-year contract with the Wide Receiver. That’s what NFL insider Ian Rapoport reports. The contract is due to be signed on Thursday.
Although the Saints have won seven games in a row and are second in the NFL with 34.9 points per game, they are surprisingly thin on receivers.
Veteran Ted Ginn Jr. was put on the injured reserve list last month with a knee injury and free agent Cameron Meredith has not developed as hoped with zero targets in the last three games.
Bryant was dismissed from the Dallas Cowboys in April after eight years and has been on the market as a free agent ever since. After earlier tryouts with the Baltimore Ravens and Cleveland Browns, however, there was never an agreement.
The All-Pro videout was one of the best of the NFL in its heyday. Between 2012 and 2014 he had three consecutive seasons with 1200 yards and twelve touchdowns and received Pro Bowl invitations in 2013, 2014 and 2016.
