NFL: NFL top match does not go up in Mexico

The NFL top match between the Los Angeles Rams and the Kansas City Chiefs will take place at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. This was confirmed by the NFL in an official statement. Originally, the Aztec Stadium in Mexico City was planned as the venue.

The league was forced to abandon these plans due to extremely poor conditions at the Aztec Stadium. Football matches, concerts and rain had recently put the grass in the Aztec stadium in a poor condition, and those responsible considered the risk of injury to the players to be too high. According to US media reports, numerous well-known players threatened to boycott a game on the pitch in Mexico.

The Memorial Coliseum in Los Angeles is the home of the Rams. All NFL teams are required to keep their own stadium available as a possible replacement for international matches.
