MLB: 5.1 billion! New league TV deal fixed

The owners of the 30 MLB teams have extended the contract of Commissioner Rob Manfred for a long time. This is the result of a two-day meeting in Atlanta.

Manfred has been MLB Commissioner since 2015 and succeeded Allan H. “Bud” Selig. The new contract runs until the end of the 2024 Regular Season.

No decision was made in the matter of Pace of Play. Manfred said, however, that he would rather reach an agreement with the players’ union in this area.

Apart from that, the team owners approved a new $5.1 billion TV contract with FOX that includes the World Series, the All-Star Game, and extensive playoff coverage on the main channel and cable FS1. The new deal runs from 2021 to 2028.

In addition, a partnership with DAZN has been established, which will run for three years and start in 2019. This includes highlight rights, magazine shows and an evening show that jumps live from game to game.
